•• Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another.

~ Malachi 3:16 ••

• Our sixth US President, John Quincy Adams, finished his term as President and then afterwards ran for US Congress. I believe he is the only President to have done so. Adams won, and his sole purpose for being Congressman was to end slavery in the United States. Every week he would purpose a bill to weaken or restrict or end slavery. He encountered heavy opposition. They even made laws specifically for him to end his crusade. But on he kept. He was asked at one point after several years why he continued after apparent total failure.

He answered, "Duty is ours. Results are God's."

After nearly twenty years, JQA almost literally died on the Congressional floor. He was taken to a side office where he passed away, probably of a heart attack. But during his last years he met a young Congressman who took up his cause. Around twenty five years later this young Congressman became our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. You know the rest of the story.

Prayer warriors, activists, let's not quit before we achieve our much needed victory.

• Well, let's see. We have Joe Biden, a Presidential nominee who is showing more and more obvious signs of dementia. Yet we don't dare invoke the Constitutional solution and impeach him or how should we say it, retire him. Why? Because no one really wants VP Harris to become President. Harris was the least popular of all of the Democratic candidates in 2020.

Then we have Donald Trump, who is a convicted felon and may be in jail by the time we vote for our next President. Before this, I have called him the General Patton of the political realm. Rough, but effective. And I'm not really sure that the Left should be complaining that some one is name calling. The left has been name calling for decades. But yes, Donald Trump and his mouth. What will happen?

I don't think we should forget RFK Jr., who might have a major effect on the election. He most likely will not win the election for logistical reasons, but his voters might decide who the next President is.

We have fake news. It is hard to pick out what is really happening. This is a time of great deception.

The US dollar is weakening around the world and the BRICS economy is strengthening.

We may have as many as two million terrorists in our nation because of our open borders. 10-27% of these illegal aliens vote already and that amount is expected to rise. We have fentanyl and human trafficking and disease coming into our country, again because of our open borders.

You know, I just discovered that my elementary school grandson can blow me out of the water in chess. By the end of the game, when I just quit rather than play it out, I had my king and two pawns. I feel like our entire country is in the situation I found myself in with my grandson. Yikes! Evil genius is taking us over. Not you, grandson. Not talking about you. But evil geniuses are controlling our country.

Yet I still believe in the God of Psalm 46, don't you?

The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts...

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

~ Psalm 46:6,10

These are the times that bring sudden destruction. Maybe. But there is also the possibility of sudden revival. Remember the Red Sea. Within the matter of less than a day all the bad guys lost and all the good guys won. Or maybe we need just to remember the Israelites conquering the Canaanites. It was step by step, little by little. Either way, let's trust God and do our part. We can trust Biblical wisdom and plan out our our next prayer-powered ACTIONS.

George Washington was "invulnerable" during an early battle.

Benjamin Franklin Calls for Prayer

Benjamin Franklin was not known as a religious person, but he had this to say during our nation's Constitutional Convention.

"We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded; and we ourselves shall become a reproach and by-word down to future ages...I therefore beg leave to move — that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the clergy of this city be requested to officiate in that service."

--Benjamin Franklin, in James Madison's Notes on the Federal Convention

Four Great Authorities

Many years ago, in fact a few decades ago, I was listening to a speech from a lawyer. He suggested, I believe correctly, that there are four great authorities in societies. They are:

The church or spiritual authorities,

The state,

The family, and

The business community - who you work for.

The lawyer suggested - I agree - that our educational authorities belongs primarily to the family, at least through high school.

Each of these authorities have their responsibilities and jurisdictions. One of his points was that if the church, the family, and the business community were all strong, then there is almost no need for the state. A small government is a good goal, but only possible if the other three authorities are strong.

Years later I was to see an almost perfect example of how these authorities should mesh. There was a young man working as a repairman in an appliance store. He was a heavy drinker and would come in with a hangover and in a bad mood. He was abusive to the customers, but he mostly worked in the back. He was told by his employer that though they needed his expertise, they could get along without him if he didn't straighten up. He and his wife were fighting constantly. Then the man got in trouble for driving drunk. He had a court date.

It resolved itself by all four authorities getting correctly involved in his life. The court judge told him that he was on probation. He could only drive his car to and from work for a certain period, after which he would have to appear in court again. He was told that if he was ever caught driving drunk again he would do jail time. His wife contacted their church and they entered counseling. Church, family, state, and business all unknowingly worked together to solve a problem.

The young man quit his drinking. The appliance store got a better employee. The wife got a better husband. The church fulfilled one of its purposes.

But often the problem is that the state thinks they are the only legitimate authority, or at least the most important authority. So problems don't get solved. There is no social support system. Then the unsolved problems attracts more state authority. Eventually, the state becomes the tyrannical maker of all decisions, not serving the interests of the people at all.

This is one of the reasons I think good government should focus on strengthening the family, enhancing the business community, and making provision for the freedom of religion.

Statism in Our Schools

If we chose to make public education available to everyone, and then funneled the money through the Catholic or Southern Baptist Churches, we should not be surprised if the students come out as believing all answers in society could be answered by the Catholic church or the Southern Baptist church.

So why are we surprised when we funnel our money for public education through the state and they come out as statists, believing that all of society's problems can be fixed by the state?
